My trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico also known as Rocky point was filled with a lot of good experiences. Food was one of them.
I gotta say guys that I am not a biiig foodie but I loooove me some fresh out of the ocean sea food. Puerto Penasco is the place to be if you are looking for something like that!
From 3 days spent in Puerto Penasco, I was able to check couple of restaurants out. I will list them here and share my very personal opinion.
Where to eat breakfast in Puerto Penasco?
For two successive days I went back to same breakfast place. I found a restaurant called ” Kaffeehaus ” located at Blvd. Benito Juárez García 216B, El Puerto, 83554 Puerto Peñasco, Son., Mexico.
Kaffeehaus is a German/Mexican restaurant with a good selection of breakfast food at a reasonable price. They accept cash only and it might get quite busy; but it is worth the wait. Here is a selection of dishes we ordered:
But my absolute absolute favorite food there was their fresh baked ” Apple Strudel”. Apple Strudel is a traditional Austrian pastry famous in many European countries.
I never had one in my entire life and I was just sitting there amazed at how tasty it was.
Where to eat lunch in Puerto Penasco?
Because I had late breakfast for most of them, I only got to try one place for lunch “El Oktupus”. Located right in the heart of Rocky point, this restaurant offers a nice view and a good selection of shrimp, octopus and more.
We ordered Nachos with shrimp (Highly recommend) and I ordered a custom dish of grilled shrimp, octopus, vegetables and rice. My favortie! They take credit card and they have balcony seating available.
Where to eat diner in Puerto Penasco?
I knew exactly what I wanted for the first night in Puerto Penasco…some goood Paella dish. I read good recommendations about “El Tapeo” and their tasty Paella. To my surprise, I learnt that they only make it on Thursdays 🙁
To be honest, they have a very limited menu but they offer GREAT live music and I was told that they have a good selection of wine.
My second diner was an absolute winner. I was asking around for a local place with fresh seafood and I was directed to “Frederico’s restaurant” The person who refereed me had said “Don’t expect it to be upscale but the food is tasty”
To my surprise, the restaurant had an amazing view overlooking the sea of cortez and the quality of food was the best.
