How in the world can anyone bear living in the boiling desert of Arizona?
Summers go by so fast and we have the most beautiful weather for more than 8 months. How about that? 😀
Get your dusty boots out, your camel back and your hiking pants to discover new trail!
Today’s trail is “Wave Cave Trail” in the superstition mountains. It is a 3 miles hike out and back with an elevation of approximately 846 feet.
The superstition mountains have a lot to offer and never disappoint. One of my favorite backpacking trips was in the Superstition mountains “Reavis Ranch”
Here is the link to All Trails website for more details on directions, and for a printable map (It is always good to have one)

Starting from the trail head and few fee in you will see a sign that indicates the start of the trail.
The hike was very straight forward even tough I read a lot of reviews about the trail being not well marked. One mile in you will be able to spot the cave from the distance, it is located slightly to the left. So rule number one: keep left!!
The ascent gets a little bit harder towards the end. Keep moving!! One step at a time!
It is called “Wave Cave” obviously because of it is shape. I have seen photos of hikers with surfing boards and swimming boogies. I am not kidding 😀
The earliest you go the better if you want to enjoy a quite moment to yourself in the cave. But if you don’t mind people around then it does not really matter.
Other than that, the view is amazing and I took plenty of beautiful photos at the cave.
The descent is moderate and does not require a lot of technique.
If you are trying to get into hiking, this is a moderate trail that I highly recommend. I also, have an article in my blog “A beginner’s guide to hiking” Check it ou!
Thank you for checking this article out.
Feet-Cheers!
