I hope you guys are having a wonderful day today. I am excited, and I guess by now you have an idea why.
Today I am finally launching “World Traveler” series. Through these series I will interview remarkable travelers, hikers, climbers and adventurous people from around the world. The purpose of these series is to help you find some inspiration in their journey, learn travel related tips and tricks and just get to know some like minded people.
Allow me to introduce you to our first “world travelers” guests Emma & Trevor, an adventurous couple from Australia. We are excited for you guys to get to know them, so here we go:
Please Introduce yourselves?
We are Emma and Trevor, avid adventurers and founders of Cut Lunch Adventures – an adventure travel website. We travel part-time and are based in Sydney, Australia. When we’re not at home we’re often found on a trekking adventure in the Himalayas, Australia or New Zealand.
How long have you been on the road and how it all started?
Both of us have a sense of adventure and have travelled extensively for work and pleasure. However it wasn’t until 2013 when we set ourselves the challenge of trekking to Everest Base Camp that we started this journey.
We discovered the immense satisfaction of exploring the outdoors, spectacular mountain landscapes and new cultures. We left our jobs in the corporate world 3 years ago and now work on our Cut Lunch Adventures website to inspire and help others to have successful adventures. Recently, we have also set ourselves a new challenge – Project Base8000 – to be the first to trek to the base camps of all the world’s 14 highest mountains over 8000m.
What was your first trip ever and when?
Our first ever trips would have been when we were much younger – Singapore (Emma) and Malaysia (Trevor). However in more recent history our first trekking expedition was to Everest Base Camp in 2013.
The best place you have been to and why?
Nepal would have to be the winner as it has been a life changing adventure for us. From the moment you arrive in Kathmandu you experience the intoxicating mix of cultures as well as the air of anticipation as trekkers and mountaineers prepare for their expeditions. Then once you escape to the mountains you’re transported to some of the most amazing places on earth and you meet the incredibly hospitable people of the Himalaya. Japan, Patagonia and Colombia would have to be close runners up.
What was your scariest travel moment?
Experiencing 100km winds and a blizzard in the Spanish Pyrenees. It was a long hike in to our refugio lodge. We encountered deep snow, the potential for avalanches, and as the daylight disappeared there was next to no visibility. We were relieved to get there!
