Philadelphia is rich in history, hosting the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and also served as the capital of our country for a brief period. Today you’re more likely to find Philly Cheesesteaks, statues of Ben Franklin, and Temple University. There is a public rail system that will also help you travel around the city.
There is an International Airport, which should make getting to and from the city a piece of cake. However, if you’re coming in from out of country, you may find yourself in New York first. There is a public rail system (SEPTA) which will hook up with Amtrak to get you from New York down even to Atlantic City, NJ.
If you poke around the city you’ll find many tall buildings. Philly isn’t as dense as Chicago or New York, but you’ll still be able to get lost downtown. Local food isn’t an issue you’ll certainly come across many local eateries. There is plenty of night life for those of you that want to adventure after dark. Depending on your age you could find yourself enjoying the college area located around Temple University or you could simply spend your time in the city. There is certainly no shortage of things to do here.
Traveling during the day will take you to Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed. You can visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Ben Franklin Memorial, or the Joan of Arc Statue. If you want, you could snap a photo celebrating with the Rocky Statue also.
